Just a few hours after taking home the Denton Doc Award at Thin Line Fest, Cinematographer Michael B. Mullins was on hand in Las Vegas at the BEA/NAB conference to pick up the 2nd National Grand Prize in the Short Documentary category for The Great Hanging.
It’s been a banner weekend for The Great Hanging, director Johnathan Paul and the team at Datalus Pictures. On this amazing weekend Johnathan had this to say, “It’s been a crazy weekend. Certainly didn’t expect this, but it’s incredibly humbling for sure.”
“It’s amazing to see all the hard work by Johnathan and our team pay off. We just won the 2nd grand prize in the Nation. That’s just amazing,” Michael B. Mullins said shortly after accepting the award at the 2017 BEA Event.
Thin Line Fest has once again come and gone, but this year Datalus Pictures had several entrees in the festival. One of these was The Great Hanging. Set as the highlight of the Texas Documentary section of the festival the film went on to win the 2017 Denton Doc Award.
This was a huge honor for director Johnathan Paul as well as the entire cast and crew. Big thanks to Thin Line Fest and their entire team. Be sure keep up with Thin Line Fest and head out in 2018 for the very best in Photo, Music, and Film.
